INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE OF HAND POLISHED SHELLAC FINISH
- Clean up spillages immediately and avoid direct hot or cold contact with the
surface. - For long term protection of your piece, we recommend using good quality
place mats and coasters. - To clean – soak a cotton cloth or micro fibre cloth in hot water and wring the
cloth out very well until almost dry. - Wipe the surface with the cloth in straight lines following the grain of the
wood. No swirling or circular motions as this could scratch the surface. Repeat
with dry cloth of same material. - We highly recommend micro fibre cloths which are easily purchased. Some
cloths are made of abrasive material such as J Cloths, so we recommend
avoiding using these. - To maintain your furniture, once or twice a year we recommend using
beeswax. We use Liberon clear wax for teak furniture and Liberon walnut wax
for rosewood furniture. We do not recommend using spray polishes. - If you have young children, be aware that art and hobby types of activity can
often leave marks on top of a table. - If placing a hot dish direct from the oven on top of surface, use protection of a
thick chopping board or a pot rack
