INSTRUCTIONS FOR CARE OF POLYURETHANE FINISH
- Clean up spillages immediately and avoid direct hot or cold contact with the surface.
- For long term protection of your piece, we recommend using good quality place mats and coasters.
- To clean – soak a cotton cloth or micro fibre cloth in hot water and wring the cloth out very well until almost dry.
- Wipe the surface with the cloth in straight lines following the grain of the wood. No swirling or circular motions as this could scratch the surface. Repeat with dry cloth of same material.
- We highly recommend micro fibre cloths which are easily purchased. Some cloths are made of abrasive material such as J Cloths, so we recommend avoiding using these.
- If after a certain amount of time your piece is looking dull, then any store bought car wax or turtle wax will help restore the shine. We recommend working in small areas as the wax can dry quite quickly. We do not recommend using spray polishes as these often leave a residue.
- To wax a piece of furniture, apply a small quantity of liquid wax, work into the surface in straight lines and then buff off with a clean cloth.
- Do not use white spirits on a piece of furniture that has a polyurethane finish.
- If placing a hot dish direct from the oven on top of the surface use protection of a thick chopping board or a pot rack
