A flagship item in our store is this beautiful dining table by the renowned Danish designer Arne Vodder for Sibast Møbler (Sibast Furniture) from the 1960s. On Hold under the model name “Model 212”, it is a dining table that blends form, function and exceptional quality. The dining table features a pair of fixed 3-leg bases which allows leg space for dinner guests up to 10 people comfortably but could potentially seat 12 people with the right set of chairs. The table, which is extended by two separate table leaves can be adjusted to seat either 6, 8 or 10 people.
Our restoration team has fully restored this table to its former glory, or as we would sometimes put it, “Factory Standard”.
Did you know that Arne Vodder is renowned for his simple, organic style, and his elegant design and profound understanding of materials made him an imposing figure in Danish Modernism. In the 1950s and 1960s, he entered into close collaboration with Sibast Furniture, designing a lot of the furniture exported by the company, much of which was used to furnish distinguished offices all over the world. Arne Vodder’s furniture went to US president Jimmy Carter in the White House, to Pope Paul V in Rome, to the UN office in Geneva. [Sibast Furniture; Arne Vodder Design Profile]
