A striking example of Scandinavian art glass, this iconic “Shark Tooth” vase was designed by renowned Swedish designer Gunnar Nylund for Strömbergshyttan in 1957. Characterised by its sculptural silhouette, the vase takes its nickname from the dramatic fin-like form that rises gracefully from the body, creating a sense of movement even when standing still.
Hand-blown using the Sommerso technique, the vase features a rich amber-brown core encased within clear crystal glass, allowing light to pass through the layers and beautifully accentuate the shape. The warm honey and smoky amber tones shift depending on the angle and available light, giving the piece a constantly changing appearance. Nylund’s Shark Tooth series became one of Strömbergshyttan’s most celebrated glass designs and remained in production for many years due to its popularity.
