Just out of restoration are these gorgeous pair of lounge chairs designed by the renowned Danish designer Illum Wikkelsø featuring interesting rosewood frames with it’s original black leather cushions. They are very comfortable to sit, offering good support for the back and the overall design is very pleasing to the eye. The rosewood has a lovely dark tone with a beautiful pronounced grain.
The Capella armchair boasts a fascinating history, with production starting in the 1950s and concluding by the late 1960s. The earliest versions featured simple fabric upholstery, while later iterations showcased buttoned leather cushions—an ideal combination that we believe elevates its design. According to designer Illum, the concept originated from the arms of the chair, crafted from leftover wood from previous projects. This innovative use of materials gave the arms a unique shape reminiscent of a cricket bat. With Illum’s exceptional craftsmanship, we present the iconic Capella armchair, a timeless piece that blends history with elegance.
** Price is for the pair. We have a single rosewood “Capella” armchair with a footstool available in another listing.
