Designed by the renowned and award winning Norwegian designer Ingmar Relling in the 1960s, this model has sold over 800,000 chairs since the production start in 1965. Ingmar Relling was passionate about creating ergonomic and eco-friendly seating while ensuring the highest quality possible. These lounge chairs are no different, they were built to last and made so that they could be easily repaired. The wood was harvested from sustainable forests in Norway and Ingmar Relling won first prize in a competition held by the Industrial Council for Furniture. The Siesta chair showcased Relling’s minimalist design aesthetic and became his career-defining design. During President Jimmy Carter’s term, he purchased sixteen Siesta chairs to furnish the White House.
